NDNA Winner Outstanding Contribution Award 2017 - Our Nursery Director Stephanie Dodds, NDNA network Chair of East and Midlothian, has led the way in fighting for nurseries to either be exempt or have substantial reductions to business rates. She actively contributes to the NDNA Policy Committee and gathers valuable information to support her fellow colleagues and we were delighted when her dedication to the nursery sector was recognised by NDNA winning this prestige award.

Finalist NMT 2017 - We are delighted that our Nursery Manager Heather Goode has been selected as a finalist in the Scottish NMT Nursery Manager of the Year Award 2017. The awards ceremony will take place on the 1st of September 2017.

Investors in People Platinum Employer of the Year Finalist 2017 - We are very excited to have been identified as the very best Investors in People accredited organisations in the UK and have therefore been shortlisted for the above award. We will find out our official top 10 ranking at the awards ceremony in London on the 23rd of November.

Investors in People Platinum Accreditation - We are delighted to have achieved this amazing award in Feb 2017 . We are extremely proud of achieving this highest level of accreditation, once again recognising our investment in all our staff and our firm belief that our staff are our greatest asset. We are the FIRST nursery in Scotland to achieve this award and the second in the whole of the UK!

NDNA Nursery of the Year 2016 - This prestigious nursery award acknowledges, rewards and celebrates excellance across the nursery sector highlighting the fantastic work of nurseries and practitioners in supporting children and their families. Pear Tree Nursery were delighted to win this award for Scotland. This is one of the few awards that are voted for by parents using the service.

NMT Winner Personality of the Year 2016 - These awards are designed to discover and reward the very best people in the Scottish Nursey Sector and it was with great delight that our Nursery Manager Gillian Harvey won this fantastic award. The judges chose Gillian becasue she has such a passionate engaging personality which re-writes the rules, digs huge holes to jump into and lights fire under people.

NDNA runner up Investing in Your People Award UK 2016 - Happy workers mean happy children! This award celebrates those settings that invest in the development and motivation of all their staff. We were truly humbled to be a runner up for the whole of the UK nursery sector for this award. A truly outstanding achievement for Pear Tree Nursery.

SOIL Award - The Food for Life Catering Mark is a widely respected scheme, supported by the Scottish Government, which is raising standards of food quality, provenance and sustainability in public and private sector catering. It provides an independent endorsement that caterers are taking steps to improve their food, through meeting standards on nutrition, freshness, sustainability and animal welfare. Pear Tree Nursery is delighted to have achieved the Bronze Food for Life Catering Mark for serving fresh and healthy meals at its site in Haddington.

Supporting Charitable Organisations

SIMBA - SiMBA is about memories. We provide Memory Boxes for parents who have suffered the loss of a baby at any stage of pregnancy. We also provide Family Rooms in hospitals and memorial Trees of Tranquillity, each leaf representing a life lost. Our charity aims to reach out to enhance the bereavement service and help parents rebuild their shattered lives. www.simbacharity.org.uk Voted by our parents and staff as our charity for 2014 the nursery raised an amazing £881.25 for this charity.

PKU - Phenylketonuria (known as PKU) affects 1 in 10,000 babies across the country and is routinely checked at birth with a heel prick. If it is left untreated the excess levels of amino acid phenylalanine, found in protein in foods, damage the nervous system and lead to severe learning difficulties. Voted by our parents and staff as our charity of 2013 the nursery raised £655.89 for the worthy charity.

Cash for Kids - Cash for Kids helps children who are disadvantaged through poverty, and who are sick or disabled. They also help groups and organisations that work to improve the lives of children in our community. In 2013 Pear Tree Nursery registered as a drop off point to allow the local community to donate toys for these children and will continue this on an annual basis. In 2014 we also donated £619.51 during 2014 for this charity.

Children in Need - This charity raises funds to help projects throughout the uk. Some of the Scotland projects that benefit are The Child Brain Injury Trust, Bookbug, Kids in the Street. In 2013 Pear Tree Nursery raised £239.20.

World Vision - World Vision is the world's largest international children's charity and every day they bring real hope to millions of children in the world's hardest places. Pear Tree Nursery has been sponsoring a child, Movses Mesropyan , since 2011.

Sport Relief - This charity raises money to change lives at home and abroad. It helps give shelter to young people living on the streets and protection to those living with domestic abuse. Across the world it helps children into education, and provides communities with fresh water and life-saving vaccines. Pear Tree Nursery raised £51.19 in 2014 for this charity.
