The Eagle Explorers were out in the garden when they began to make their own bonfire using sticks and leaves. I asked the group involved if they would like to make a real fire and they were very excited. We got out the fire pit and began to make the fire. The children helped to chop the wood using a knife and rolling pin to split it and then we all got a turn to use the fire steal to create a spark. Once the fire was started we toasted some bread and ate it around the fire. Our friends from the fox cubs also came and joined us when we were toasting bread and enjoyed some with us. Both Eagle Explorers and Fox cubs found different sticks and leaves to add to the fire to see how they burned. We listened the fire popping as some of the materials were wet. We all had a brilliant afternoon.
